Eskolot, the school for multidisciplinary studies of the Open University, offers a new course on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Einstein's theory of relativity - "The history of science from a human perspective - from Galileo to Einstein and all the way".
The course will be held under the direction of Prof. Elam Gross, Professor of Physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science, who is currently taking part in the construction of the world's largest particle accelerator built in Geneva. Prof. Gross will present a voyeuristic and uncompromising point of view on the lives of the great scientists, their thinking and their fascinating character which undoubtedly played a large part in their path to achievements that changed the face of the world.

According to Prof. Gross: "All the material in the lectures is based on proven sources and in-depth research work. In my lectures I provide 'scientific gossip' but I do not give up any scientific fact. The glimpse into the private lives of the great scientists is made possible by my understanding of physics, I can look beyond the "dry" science and concentrate on the processes that led to the discoveries, these connections are necessarily the lives of the people and the period in which they lived."

Among other things, Prof. Gross will discuss Galileo Galilei who said the phrase "Nevertheless we shall move" in front of the Inquisition to Gulliver in the Land of the Giants, Issac Newton the alchemist and the greatest heretic in history, an incurable mystic and perhaps the greatest scientist of all, and Maria Sklodowska (Marie Curie), the woman The most obsessed in the history of science, who sacrificed herself on the altar of radioactivity in a spiritualist world.

And of course Einstein who said that falling in love is not stupid and you can't blame it on gravity. On Einstein's happy thought - curved time space and black holes. to see atoms, write love letters and ride on a beam of light. About space and time and the most deserving Nobel Prize that has never been awarded..

The course includes 8 sessions on Thursdays between 20:00 and 21:30.
It will be held at the study center of schools in Beit Ayala, 13 Ben Gurion Ave., Tel Aviv.
