Corneat Vision accelerates the development of its artificial corneal implant that will restore sight to the blind

Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE Lab joins Corneat Vision, a groundbreaking Israeli startup, to its open innovation lab. Corneat Vision develops, among other things, an artificial corneal implant, which allows patients who have gone blind as a result of corneal diseases and injuries to realize their full vision potential, without the need for a corneal donation

Dassault Systèmes announced the addition of Corneat Vision, a pioneer in biomimetic implant technology, to the start-up acceleration program, as part of Dassault Systèmes' innovation laboratory, 3DEXPERIENCE Lab.

The startup from Ra'anana is the first Israeli startup selected by 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, which specializes in accelerating ventures that are in the prototype stage and develop a product that has the potential to make a significant contribution to humanity, in the event that it matures into production and marketing on a large scale.

Dassault Systèmes' innovation lab will provide Corneat Vision with access to a support system that includes technology, consulting and networking with the support of Dassault Systèmes' solutions.

Corneat Vision develops, in addition to other implants, an artificial corneal implant that integrates with the tissue and allows patients who have gone blind as a result of corneal diseases or injuries to realize their full vision potential, without the need for a corneal donation.

Corneat EverMatrix™ is a non-degradable synthetic material platform, protected by several patents, which enables easy and permanent integration of implants with living tissue, without provoking a foreign bone reaction and rejection.

Dassault Systèmes and 3DEXPERIENCE Lab are assisting Corneat Vision in two clinical studies.
The first study is of the Corneat EverPatch, a synthetic tissue substitute, which he recently received FDA 510(K) approval; A second study will soon begin for the Corneat KPro, the artificial cornea.

Corneat Vision uses Dassault Systèmes' Medidata Rave EDC and Rave Imaging platform in both studies.

Diseases affecting the cornea are a major cause of blindness worldwide. About 2 million new cases of corneal blindness are reported every year. Existing solutions rely on tissue from a donor, which may carry diseases and require a long recovery time, with success rates and visual acuity varying between patients.

The implant developed by Corneat Vision is supposed to offer global markets an artificial solution to corneal blindness, to improve the lives of more than 30 million people in the world, who suffer from complete or partial blindness as a result of corneal diseases or injuries.

"It is a privilege for us to be selected for Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE Lab. With this support, we will get full access to a virtual environment in the cloud, at the highest level, and in addition, we will benefit from the knowledge and expertise that the program provides," said Dr. Gilad Litvin, co-founder, chairman and medical director, Corneat Vision. "Our startup will fulfill its mission to change the lives of millions of people now and in the future."

Corneat Vision is an interesting and powerful illustration of the vibrant ecosystem of Israeli startups in the Deep-Tech field. Its development is focused on medicine and improving people's lives. "Life" is one of the central themes in the vision of 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, which positions Corneat Vision as a promising startup in our acceleration program" said Frederic Vasher, director of 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, Dassault Systèmes.
