The Shanghai Index ranks Haifa University first in Israel in the fields of education, nursing, sociology and marine sciences

According to the new Shanghai Index, which ranks 1,800 higher education institutions from around the world according to fields of study, the University of Haifa was ranked in the range of 51-75 places in education and sociology, in the range of 76-100 places in nursing and in the range of 151-200 in oceanography (marine sciences) - above all universities in Israel in the fields these

According to the president of the university Prof. Ron Rubin, "The data of the new index are gratifying and challenging. The vision of sustainability, which integrates with academic excellence, which we recently announced receives an international seal of approval today. In addition, according to the index, the University of Haifa is placed among the leading institutions in the world in the following fields:

Communication studies: 45th place in the world and second among universities in Israel, law (101-150), political science (101-150), public administration (76-100) and psychology (101-150). It should be noted that the University of Haifa is the only university in Israel that managed to enter the list of the top 200 universities in the field of maritime studies in the world.

"The ranking is a testament to the investment and excellence of our entire academic staff, research and teaching teams. Together we will lead the research in the fields of society and the environment to many more heights", said the Rector of the University Prof. Gur Elroy.

  1. I studied oceanography 25 years ago. We thought it was the next big thing. More are waiting. It's terribly interesting, but impractical outside of academia.
