The 2023 Wolf Prize awarding ceremony for groundbreaking scientists and artists from around the world was held this evening (Thursday, June 15.6.2023, XNUMX) at the Knesset building in Jerusalem.

The event was attended by the President of the State of Israel, Yitzhak Herzog; Minister of Education and Chairman of the Wolf Foundation Board, Yoav Kish; Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana; Chairman of the Board of the Wolf Foundation, Prof. Dan Shechtman (Nobel Prize winner and Wolf Prize winner); Executive Director of the Wolf Foundation Reot Yanon-Berman; Foundation board members and trustees.

The Wolf Prize, known as the second most important prize in the world after the Nobel Prize, was awarded this year in the fields of: chemistry, medicine, mathematics, agriculture and art. The five prizes were awarded this year to eight winners from five countries: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Great Britain.

The festive ceremony concluded a series of events and meetings in which the winners participated during the week and met researchers and academics, senior officials in the economy, students and youth. The winners gave lectures, participated in symposia and toured academic, research, medical and cultural institutions throughout Israel, including Tel Aviv University, the Faculty of Agriculture of the Hebrew University, the Volcanic Institute, the Weizmann Institute, the Israel Museum and the Sheba-Tel Hashomer and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals.
