The fighter jets ascend to the cloud

Dassault Aviation will use Dassault Systèmes' collaboration and data science capabilities based on a sovereign cloud on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to optimize the availability of its military aircraft fleet for the French Ministry of Defense. The data management will be done in the virtual twin of each and every plane

Dassault Systèmes announced that Dassault Aviation has extended its (contract) use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in a sovereign cloud, to maximize the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Rafale aircraft for the French Ministry of Defense.
The platform offers significant capabilities in the field of data science and sharing capabilities, which will allow Dassault Aviation to anticipate challenges, improve maintenance operations and maximize fleet availability - by leveraging the vast amounts of information generated in the programming, production, support and flight and maintenance logs of each aircraft.

When Rafale aircraft are in service, each of them behaves differently and needs a maintenance operation according to the events recorded in its activity history. Effective MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) requires an integrative solution to analyze the complex data coming from diverse information systems and in different formats, while the aircraft is in service.

Dassault Systèmes' "Keep them Operating" industry experience solution, on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, provides Dassault Aviation with a fully integrated digital platform as well as a data-based model through which the most valuable information can be collected, continuously - and fed into the plane's virtual twin throughout The stages of the aircraft life cycle. In this way, it is possible to identify the actions that must be performed to maintain the aircraft optimally.

"Dassault Systèmes and we are united in the understanding that data is the key to transforming processes that are significant to the availability of the aircraft fleet. The challenge is to leverage any type of data and translate it into action, while creating new ways of sharing all the parties involved. The virtual twin experiences on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform allow us to understand the data and use it to build models - not only for the equipment, resources and fleet, but also for the overall support system, which is required to manage an aircraft in all conditions and at the best performance level" said Bruno Chevalier, VP Senior, Military Customer Support, Dassault Aviation.

With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and NETVIBES applications, Dassault Aviation's maintenance engineers and technicians can anticipate problems before they occur, and plan accordingly and quickly, schedules for maintenance, replacement of parts and processes
MRO to meet targets. In this way, informed decisions can be made collaboratively about predictive maintenance, pilot work support and ground support solutions to improve spare parts supply chain resilience and optimize inventory management.

"Dassault Aviation benefits from the depth of capabilities offered by our cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform, in every program. The combination of collaborative, data science and virtual twin capabilities of the platform, makes it possible to predict how each aircraft will behave specifically and ensure more efficient maintenance. This means better availability and increased ability to innovate in the development of new aircraft," said David Ziegler, Vice President Aerospace and Defense Industries, Dassault Systèmes.
