The Japanese communication satellite Kizuna was successfully launched this morning. This is according to the Japanese Space Agency. The launch, shared by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA), took place after delays of several days due to problems discovered in the H-2A launcher recently privatized by the Japanese government.

The satellite is a joint venture of the Japan Space Agency and the country's information and communication technology industry. It should significantly increase browsing speed and data traffic capacity - far beyond what is customary today.

With the help of the advanced communication system of the "Kizuna" satellite, an ordinary user will be able to surf at a maximum speed of 155Mps (download) and 6Mps (upload), by using a standard 45 centimeter satellite dish. Heavier users who want super fast speed will be able to install 5 meter satellite dishes and enjoy a surfing speed of 1.2 Gbps.

Beyond the desire to establish a super-fast communication network in Japan, the goal of the project is to establish a high-speed communication network for all of Southeast Asia. The government gave national priority to the project and many organizations assisted in its implementation. Among its secondary goals is the desire to connect remote areas that suffer from poor ground infrastructure to the Internet, as well as the desire to promote distance learning and the development of distance medicine - two large projects that require very high bandwidth.

The move is also intended to showcase the technological capabilities of Japan and its civilian industry. Not many companies possess such capabilities, while many countries impose many restrictions on private companies engaged in the field of space technologies due to the fear of leaking information to enemy countries, Japan encourages its industry to invest more in developing applications for the space sector and using space for commercial needs.

The Japanese government sees investment in space as an investment that will pay off in the long run. According to the policy makers, they must be the first in the field which, according to the forecasts, is going to generate hundreds of billions of dollars a year.
