A historic agreement in the field of space was signed between Israel and Azerbaijan

Yesterday (4.10) at the International Space Conference, the Director of the Space Agency, Uri Oron, and the Chairman of the Azarian Space Agency, Samadin Asadov, signed the first historic cooperation agreement in the field of space between the State of Israel and Azerbaijan.

The agreement was signed as part of the annual International Astronautical Congress (IAC). The IAC is the world's most important space conference held this year in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The agreement will lead to joint projects in the field of space, including the development of space technologies, satellites, systems for space exploration (robotics, vehicles and optical systems), collaborations in academia, earth observation and monitoring, projects in the field of education and more.

Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Ofir Akunis: "The agreement is further evidence of the strengths of science, innovation and the Israeli space industry. Israel's international position is solid and getting stronger all the time. The agreement with Azerbaijan has important economic and political implications and I congratulate everyone who made it a success.'

Director of the Israel Space Agency, Uri Oron: "The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the space agencies establishes and strengthens the relationship between the countries. In an era where the space field is growing rapidly, the agreement will allow the State of Israel to have business, research and academic collaborations that are essential for the development of the space field in Israel."

Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Dick added, that the joint work of all the parties on the Israeli and Azerbaijani sides led to the signing of the understandings, with the intention of expanding cooperation in the near future. "The relationship between Israel and Azerbaijan will deepen and expand into new technological fields for the benefit of both countries and peoples."
