Bar-Ilan University recently hosted the first conference for unit managers of scientific infrastructures in Israel, marking a significant milestone in shaping the future of research infrastructures in Israel. The conference, organized by Canber Center for Scientific Instruments of Bar-Ilan University  Brought together over 100 managers from national infrastructure units from academic research institutions, regional research institutes and research institutes in Israel.

The event is a collaboration between Bar-Ilan University and (IRCF (Israel Research Core Facilities, A national initiative supported by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, which aims to maximize the potential of research infrastructures in Israel, foster collaborations and benefit the entire scientific community.

Dr. Itai Lazar, director of the Canberra Center for Scientific Instruments, opened the conference by emphasizing the lack of awareness among researchers in Israel regarding the infrastructures available to them and the common challenges faced by infrastructure units around the world. And added "Recognizing the need to improve knowledge sharing and cooperation, Bar-Ilan University, which strives to drive innovation, excellence and collective progress in the field of scientific infrastructure, initiated the project in collaboration with other research institutions, with the aim of benefiting all parties involved." Modern research relies more and more on a combination of innovative technologies and collaborative work. The core facilities play an important role in meeting these challenges by giving the scientific community from various disciplines access to specialized expertise and advanced technologies. To achieve this goal, the IRCF association was established whose mission is to serve as a force multiplier for all the core facilities centers in Israel and to promote collaborations that maximize the potential of these centers for the benefit of the Israeli scientific ecosystem (academia, hospitals and industry). IRCF is currently working on establishing a national database and creating professional networks that connect experts in the core areas.

Dr. Ziona Elkayam Cohen, director of the IRCF project, who presented the work done so far and the plans for the future, stated: "The IRCF project this year succeeded in meeting its goal - to establish a website that provides information on all public infrastructure centers - professional staff and scientific services, mainly in the fields of bio- Biomed and this year continues to map the other fields of science and with the face to make the scientific services provided by the Israeli industry more accessible. At the same time, the project unites infrastructure scientists under professional networks and builds a platform for them to exchange information, share skills and training. "

The main goals of the IRCF association include providing direct support for research, strengthening and stabilizing infrastructure centers, assisting industry in infrastructure R&D, cultivating human capital in infrastructure, promoting cooperation between universities, hospitals and industry while focusing on key areas such as convergence biology. , energy, climate, food and agriculture.
