IBM announced the appointment of Gabi Zodik as global leader of the blockchain research strategy. Zodik received the appointment after a series of achievements as part of his global activities in the fields of blockchain, IoT and the company's cloud. In Israel, Gabi leads technological research in these areas and works jointly with the company's Cyber Research Center of Excellence in Be'er Sheva to develop blockchain solutions in the world of information security. Zodik and his team will continue to assist the company's local operations in developing dedicated blockchain solutions for the company's customers in Israel.

Zodik joined the IBM research team in Haifa about 25 years ago, during which time he took part in a variety of international positions. In his position at the global company, Gabi is responsible for all research activities in the field of IoT platforms, including R&D activities in the fields of cognitive IoT, wearable products and cloud computing.

Zodik also serves as the VP of Technologies and leads the global development team of Watson Assistant Solutions, the smart assistant based on artificial intelligence that the company launched last year. He has a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from the Technion, an MBA from the University of Haifa, and for about a decade served as a lecturer in electronic engineering at the Technion.

Zodik's appointment joins the appointment of Dr. Aya Sofer, who in June of last year was appointed global vice president for artificial intelligence technology research in the company and led by Dr. Michal Rosen Zvi in the field of medical information research at the global level.

Gabi Zodik said in response to his appointment: "This is a very exciting position, a position shared by the researchers, developers and engineers in our laboratories in Haifa, in the Bash and around the world. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for working together, creativity and meeting difficult challenges. Together we managed to bring to the world groundbreaking technological solutions and two realities".
