The artist Danny Karvan and the architect Daniel Libeskind will receive an honorary doctorate from the Technion. The title will be awarded to them at the next Cortorion (Board of Trustees) meeting, in June.

Danny Karvan will receive the title for his "pioneering achievements and excellence in the fields of art and environmental sculpture - an activity that increased awareness of the natural and built environment among millions of people around the world, out of appreciation for his contribution to the reputation of the State of Israel in his works that express the longing for peace, and out of recognition of the importance of art and its contribution to scientific progress and the technology".

Daniel Libeskind will receive the title for his "contribution to the existence of a fruitful and exciting discourse in the theory and practice of the world of architecture, for the design of museums that commemorate important historical events around the world, especially those dedicated to the history of the Jewish people."

Daniel Libeskind is the designer of the Freedom Tower, which is expected to be built on the ruins of the Twin Towers in New York. He also designed the Jewish Museum in Berlin.

Avi Naor, founder of the "Or Yerok" association and one of the founders of the "Amdox" company, will receive an "Honorary Doctorate" degree from the Technion. The title will be awarded to him at the next session of the Technion's cortorion (board of trustees).

Avi Naor will receive the title for his great contribution to the uncompromising war on road accidents, and for encouraging teaching and research in the field of road safety in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion in the "Ran Naor" center established in memory of his late son, who was killed in a car accident. The Technion also honors Avi Naor for his support for students studying for higher degrees in the road safety track and for his activities to promote youth in need.
